Over the years I have tolerated Subway, when I was younger I may have even enjoyed it, before I knew what good food was, because I considered it "healthy" fast food. But I have since learned the error of my ways and just cannot understand what is so good about Subway. Besides that it might be slightly better than eating at McDonalds.
The bf challenged me to ask ya'll what you thought was better, Subway or Panera. I thought he was being silly, but then I decided what the heck, let's see what people think out there.
I will eat at pretty much any sandwich shop, Panera and Potbelly being some of my favorites, but I dread when the bf asks to eat at Subway, there is just nothing redeeming about it to me. Their bread is weird, not like real food, and everything is so processed to me. They do have a decent selection of veggies, I'll give 'em that, but that is about it.
So which is it for you? Panera OR Subway?
Also I cut up some of my tofu from Trader Joe's yesterday, tossed it with some fresh veggies, soy sauce, garlic and this new minute rice medley (it has brown rice, quinoa, barley and oats)
and made a super yummy, easy work lunch stir fry that cooks in the microwave! All for 10 Points Plus.
Panera. Though if given the choice I'd like to have the cheddar broc soup... in the bread bowl... with the side of bread.
ReplyDeleteBut overall I like Panera more. Plus the atmosphere is better.
I have never even tried any of Panera's soups because I haven't been able to stop loving their salads and sandwiches, although I should branch out I bet they are yummy!
Deletei've never eaten at panera but subway is alright. i don't eat at subway and not a fan of processed foods so i guess the only healthy choice would be a 6" veggie sub on whole grain bread.
ReplyDeleteoh if you ever come across a Panera I highly recommend it, they are all eco friendly and green and community focused but mostly I love them because their food is goooood :) yes the veggie sub on whole grain isn't THAT bad, but still there isn't much choice at Subway for people that like healthy and yummy food
DeletePanera hands down and that's what my husband would choose too. He actually hates Subway! On the rare occasion I stop at Subway (it's usually to get a sandwich to take to the beach) I only get a veggie sub on wheat. I don't like any of their icky processed meats.
ReplyDeleteOh your husband is on the right path! I thought all men would love Subway and dislike Panera, you've got a keeper there (ok I still love the bf even though he prefers Subway) although you are right Subway wins for quick and convenient...I miss the beach...
Deletei love the idea of orange picking! thanks for the tip :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a blast and soak up all the Vitamin D :)
DeleteThat is so tough, and I do not think I can pick because it depends on the situation. If I am wanting FAST and convenient then I go with Subway. If I am wanting super delicious then I generally go with Panera. So, I guess I plead the fifth on this one! ;)
ReplyDeleteYes Subway is fast and easy, for a road trip or something I guess that would be easier, but in terms of just a week night yummy dinner I don't think I would even pick Subway. I will take your vote as 1 for Panera :) I gotta win the bet!
DeletePanera all the way... I do like Subway too but there is no comparison.
ReplyDeleteYAY another point for Panera :)
DeleteTo me, they're entirely different categories. My preference is Panera, hands down, but with my frequent travel to small towns, I have to say that Subway has saved my calorie intake many times. In a town with McD's, Subway, and a gas station as my only meal options, I'm grateful for Subway. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a good point, they aren't really in the same category..but when the bf wants to eat Subway for dinner I'm just not into it! Poor guy never gets his Subway fix...but I'm glad Subway has been a better choice for you when traveling, it does have some redeeming qualities
DeleteI am with you on subway.I hate it,it's like eating cardboard .My husband likes subway and panera.I only like panera or potbelly.
ReplyDeletePanera over Subway, but I eat more at Subway just because of the convenience factor. :( The thing that I dislike about Subway is that their vegetables aren't always the best quality. I can't tell someone what I to order me because I don't know if the tomatoes (my favorite) will be white and mealy.
ReplyDeleteMy husband calls Panera the "evil bread store" which comes from his protein-rich-diet phase. Although he eats plenty of burgers (with buns) anywhere around town, he still won't go to Panera.
It's more of a place you go to with your girlfriends!
A while back, I heard that the Panera soups weren't made in house and to be aware of the calories, ingredients & sodium, but I'm not sure if that has changed. But their sandwiches are out of this world.
My boyfriend LOVES Panera. When we go there, it's usually because he chose it. Typically, though, when we're getting sandwiches we go to Firehouse Subs or Jersey Mike's. Subway is more of a backup than anything - I prefer to skip it if possible.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Panera Bread.
ReplyDeletePanera Bread all day.
